Two a Healthy Life Challenge

With the holidays coming up, food will be enjoyed and wine will be drunk and waistlines will expand…if we let them.  The challenge that Alex and I are proposing is that we (anyone that reads this blog and wants to join in) collectively run 500 miles before the end of the year.

What?! You say.  We think that all of us together can do it! There are six full weeks before the end of the year (yeah you do need to start thinking of that Christmas gift for your mom) and if you think that most people are only going to run three times a week, that is 18 runs before the end of the year.  If we had six people we could all run 18 five mile runs and be done, but we are hoping we get a lot of people joining in to help us reach our goal.

What are the rules? You don’t necessarily have to run, the point is to get people out and exercising so if you want to walk your miles that is fine too.  If you bike, we will count every 3 miles you bike as a mile run.  All you have to do is get out there and then report your miles to this blog, comment on this page, e-mail us, text us if you have our number and every day (or close to that, we are lazy sometimes) we will update the count and let everyone know how we are doing.

The point of this is to help us all be active during that time of year where most of us want to curl up inside and suck down a cup of eggnog while eating turkey with mashed potatoes and gravy.  Think of it like this, with six weeks down, you can go into the New Year with a resolution that is already on its way to being done.

Please participate in this challenge, let us know how far you ran or a new PR you set.  Share maps of your runs or bikes with us and we will post them on the blog or pictures of you out and about.   The holidays are a time for family and friends, so let’s work together and achieve something amazing…in the end there may even be prizes, who knows.

  1. Did a 4 mile run today, that puts us at 496 miles to go. We are getting a slow start, come on people, let’s get some miles going!!!
